I tried to draw my interpretation of how the void works. This is a 2D slice taken through the Earth's equator. It's very much not to scale; it's to illustrate the concept. The void has pathways going 'through' the planet from point to point on its surface, as well as an upper layer that goes 'over' the surface. And this is just one plane; there are many planes intersecting.
